View of Waterton from Vimy Ridge Waterton Lakes National Park is a short drive from both hotel locations. We are the perfect base for exploring the national parks in the area.   Waterton Lakes National Park was established in 1895. Waterton National Park neighbor's Glacier National Park, thus creating the first International Peace Park in 1932 and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. Waterton consists of rolling prairies meeting lofty mountain ranges which makes a unique diversity. It's a naturalist dream come true due to the many ecological realms.

  There is a variety of wildlife to be spotted such as deer, bighorn sheep, elk, mountain antelopes, black bear or grizzly bear. On the North Entrance of the Park, you will find a small herd of Bison, which you may drive around and see. There is also a variety of wildflowers to be seen along the roadside or trails to capture the plant lovers or photographers. This small town site offers most services for the visitors and unique shopping stores. On Sundays and special events, the Mounties are in their traditional red uniform for tourists to see.
Lower Waterton Lake
  Waterton Lakes Park has many things to keep you busy for days. One of the most common is to take a few scenic drives. The first one is a short drive to Red Rock Canyon which is a colorful gorge, and along the way you may see a diversity of excellent wildlife and spectacular floral display from prairie to alpine species. You may also stop at the a native display to gain a more knowledgeable background. The other drive is to Cameron Lake. Along the way a visitor can stop and see the Oil City display that has an interpretive exhibit. Once at Cameron Lake you can rent a canoe or paddle boat and enjoy the spectacular scenery on the lake or do some fishing.

  One of the interesting historic landmark sites in Canada is the Prince of Wales Hotel. It is worth a stop to see the magnificent lobby and view of Upper Waterton Lake. Also don't miss the powerful Cameron Falls inside the town of Waterton Lakes.

  To enjoy the outdoors there are over 1000 miles of interconnecting hike trials that are worth exploring. You can also enjoy a game of tennis at the public tennis courts and baseball on the public diamond. The kids can keep busy on the playground available and there are great picnic spots to stop at. For the visitors who want to enjoy a round of golf, there is an 18 hole course that is nestled next to the mountains.

  For the adventures who love to scuba dive, there is a place where a visitor can dive in Emerald Bay and see an old paddle wheeler that "Gertrude" built in the early 1900's. A visitor can go boating, canoeing, board sailing or whitewater rafting, and those who want to experience the Western lifestyle, take a horseback ride through the mountain trails. A visitor can enjoy a boat cruise of Upper Waterton Valley to a Ranger station in Glacier National Park.
